Post from Karen: January 25th

Hi everyone, I’ve been a bit remiss at posting updates on my blog.

My days fill up pretty rapidly. I still see a physical therapist and recently began sessions with a personal trainer at my gym.

I also go out to the Stroke Comeback Center in Oakton, VA for individual speech therapy sessions and for a long afternoon of group sessions, which include a book club. Unfortunately, the books we have read so far are real duds. We are just starting on Kite Runner, which I am approaching optimistically given all the reviews I’ve seen.

In addition to the sessions that we attend outside of the house I also continue with physical therapy on my own at home in between the formal sessions with a therapist.

Post from Karen: January 7th

Greetings to friends and family, the holidays took me away for my blog for abit. But, now that 2006 is in the history books, I’m taking some time to reflect.

As you all know 2006 was absolutely terrible for me and those who care about me. But, for the first time in a long while, I am looking to the future with optimism. My long term goals for the New Year are to get back to work at The Library of Congress and try to get back to running and swimming a little bit.

And also to enjoy the company of so many friends who have supported me throughout my ordeal and recovery. I’d love to hear from all of you, so please send an email (link to e-mail).
